In 1996, Ms. Peterhans joined the office of Anderson & Oh, Inc. Chicago as design principal of the firm. Her broad base of experiences of the design of architecture and interior design over 37 years includes a variety of projects ranging from large‑scale mixed use complex, high‑rise office building, hotels, high rise residential and housing, hospital, university, commercial, and interior design.. She directs selected design teams of in‑house architects, interior designers and specialist consultants, while maintaining liaison with the clients.

Associate Partner, 1963 ~ 1994
She began work with the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill from 1963 to 1994 where she became an Associate Partner. At SOM she led the work of the individual project architect as a head of architectural design studio, to develop the design of the building from schematic to construction documents. Her wide range of experience at SOM includes Bishopgate project in London; AIB World Trade Center and Hotel, Cairo, Egypt; Perimeter Center,  Sears Tower, Chicago; Klinikum, Koln University; Germany; Arthur Anderson Offices, Chicago.
